2016 WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai Ballkids Recruitment Officially Launched

-Selection process extended to eight cities

ZHUHAI, China, May 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Following the successful inaugural WETZ in last year, 28th April 2016, WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai Ballkids recruitment program was officially launched. Unlike last year, this year's selection is no longer limited to Zhuhai. Zhongshan, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and eight other cities have joined the activity. All eligible students can apply online or by phone. After months of strict training, the successful candidates will stand in the top-level international platform, which will provide them with the opportunity to broaden their horizons in this global event.

WTA Elite Trophy is a premier event on the WTA Tour. It is a year end championship for singles players who finish the year ranked 9th to 19th in the WTA rankings. As one of the members of the tournament service team, ball kids team has made an important contribution to the operation of the event. The process of being selected is quite challenging.  "We are together with each other, laughing and enjoying this memorable time," said Hsuan, a first year tournament ballkid. Last year, one ballkid parent said,"For children, this is a very meaningful experience."

The program plans to recruit 15 person in Zhuhai, and select 3 more person in other relative cities, with a total of 36 people constituting the ballkids team. The recruitment process is divided into two stages: city registration and selection.  Those selected for the final team will train in August, September ITF and November WETZ.

A spokesperson for the Huafa Group said that the expanded ballkid selection not only helps find excellent ball kids for the event, but also promotes tennis culture among teenagers.

With immediate effect, Zhuhai will begin accepting applications while the other cities will start registration procedures in June and July. School students aged between 12 to 17 can be registered through the official WeChat. Applicants should have a strong sense of honor and team spirit, and be able to handle stressful environments. At the same time, applicants need to be fit, love tennis and also be in good health. Applicants who are both fluent in Mandarin and speak English well are preferred.
