Effective July 1, 2016, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Member States Require Some Low-Voltage Household Electrical Products to Carry New Gulf Conformity Marking

UL, a Gulf Standardization Organization (GSO) Notified Body, can conduct all required product evaluations to issue the Gulf Type Examination Certificate

NORTHBROOK, Illinois, July 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- UL, a global safety science organization, today announced that it is available to conduct all necessary product evaluations needed for products requiring the Gulf Conformity Marking. These products include, but are not limited to, refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, microwave ovens, air conditioners, electric fans, hair appliances, water heaters, plugs, and cords. The seven GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) member states where the new requirement is in effect are the United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sultanate of Oman, State of Qatar, State of Kuwait, and Republic of Yemen.  The Gulf Conformity Marking should be affixed by the manufacturer or his/her agents or legal representatives in the GCC markets.  (The marking is shown here: http://www.gso.org.sa/gso-website/gso-website/activities/conformity/gcc-regulatory-system/gcc-conformity-marking/high-resolution-marking.png).
