"The Hong Kong government has emphasized the importance of technological innovation in the two Policy Addresses that I have delivered since becoming the Chief Executive. There are many opportunities for technological development in Hong Kong. Xiao-i has definitely made the right decision in setting up its Asia-Pacific Headquarters here," said Mrs. Lam.

The Chief Executive welcomed Shanghai-based Xiao-i to Hong Kong, noting that in addition to the Greater Bay Area, Hong Kong knows the importance of cooperation with other provinces and cities in Mainland China, especially Shanghai. This year's focus of Hong Kong-Shanghai collaboration is technological innovation while AI and bio-technology are two priority technology sectors for Hong Kong.

"I appreciate and value the concept of AI+. Its significance will be limited if it is not applied in the service of mankind," said Mrs. Lam.

"We have always positioned Xiao-i's AI technology as the brain behind businesses driving their digital transformation. Hong Kong is a leading technology hub in Asia-Pacific and innovation is strongly supported by the Government, with a well-developed technology infrastructure, a prosperous business sector and flourishing start-up scene. We have every confidence in using Hong Kong as the base and taking our development to the next level in Asia-Pacific," said Mr. Max Yuan, Founder and Chairman of Xiao-i.

Xiao-i's Asia-Pacific Headquarters, located in Central, Hong Kong, complements its research and development (R&D) center, established in Hong Kong Science Park in January 2017. This move further extends the company's service capability in Hong Kong and supports growth in the wider Asia-Pacific region. Xiao-i's AI+ Experience Center, also located in Central and modelled on the company's exhibition center in Shanghai, showcases cutting-edge AI technology and industry applications across customer service, smart city, finance and hardware, amongst other areas. The interactive space also serves as an education center to introduce the possibilities and capabilities of AI to the technology and business communities, as well as the general public in Hong Kong.

"We see a lot of opportunities in Hong Kong as businesses are committing more resources to upgrade their technology to improve operating efficiency and to enhance the customer experience. Our AI technology, particularly in the fields of conversation and human-machine interaction, is world-leading and has been adopted by leading banking, financial, retail and telecom corporations in Mainland China, as well as different levels of government. We will continue to invest in AI technology, build the ecosystem and incubate talent in Hong Kong. With our dedication to R&D, our AI technology applications and solutions are scalable and compatible across various industries, and can empower Hong Kong and Asian corporations," said Dr. Pinpin Zhu, Founder and CEO of Xiao-i.

Joining Mrs. Lam at today's opening ceremony were senior executives of Xiao-i and the company's clients and business partners.
