2012-07-19 13:28

CMC says almost 30 per cent of clients trade regularly using mobile technology

SYDNEY, July 19, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- CMC Markets has today launched a new Android app which will allow traders to access foreign exchange markets from anywhere, in response to the growing popularity of mobile technology.

Recent research conducted by Investment Trends found that in 2011, 50 per cent of frequent traders were using mobile technology, including smartphones and tablets for trading FX. Half of frequent traders also cited mobile accessibility as a very important feature to consider when choosing an FX provider.

Louis Cooper, Head of CMC Markets ANZ said almost 30 per cent of CMC's Australian clients trade regularly using iPhone and iPad applications.

"We expect the use of mobile platforms to increase significantly over the next year, which is why we have invested in upgrading all our mobile platforms to ensure our clients can trade wherever they are 24 hours a day," Mr Cooper said.

FX trading has become increasingly popular amongst retail clients in recent years with the widespread availability of online trading platforms, such as CMC Markets' Tracker platform.

"Speed and accessibility is essential when trading FX markets. Our clients want to be able to react quickly to market movements, trading on the move anywhere, anytime."

The CMC Tracker platform raised the bar significantly for competitors when it was launched in 2011, providing investors with the latest trading technology and innovative features, such as faster execution, customisable leverage, and advanced charting, all at a lower cost.

The Android app gives FX traders instant access to world markets and their CMC Tracker account from any mobile phone running an Android system. The Android CMC Tracker app offers market leading spreads and includes:

  • Product library - search, filter and browse over 300 currency pairs in CMC Tracker's product library. Analyse any currency's performance and volatility.
  • Watch lists - create your own customised watch lists of your favourite currency pairs to focus your trading on the performance of the currencies you're most interested in.
  • Factsheets - view information on each currency pair including details on margin levels, spreads and trading hours, and live charting.
  • Order tickets - access the same functions as the web platform, this feature allows you to place trades, set stop losses and take profit levels, and even show exact margins put forward.
  • Payments - fund your account directly from your mobile device, or top up your virtual funds using the demo account.
  • Swipe login - Log in to your account using our swipe security function for faster, more efficient logins.

The Android app is not just for currency trading, but includes all the features of CMC Markets' Tracker platform, including the ability to trade companies, indices and commodities across Australian and international markets using a single trading account.

CMC Markets has also upgraded its iPhone and iPad apps. Key features include price alerts with push notifications, performance values, insights, and a new order ticket to match the web platform.
