ACE Awards ( http://www.eetchina.com/ace ) recognizes semiconductor

companies that enable mainland China design engineers to develop more

sophisticated electronics.

EE Times-China publisher, Mark A. Saunderson, said: "The team we've

assembled to judge the ACE Awards has significant technological expertise

and local market knowledge. These qualities are essential to decide the

companies that have inspired innovation in China's design in 2006."

ACE Awards judges are:

* Tsinghua University, the Institute of Microelectronics, professor

Wei Shaojun

* Gartner Dataquest Asia/Pacific Semiconductor Group principal analyst,

Oliver Xu

* iSuppli China director of research, Byron Wu

* China Computer Federation MCU Association chairman, Chen Zhang Long

* Skyworth Multimedia vice president and general manager of R&D, Wu Wei

Dozens of Top Semiconductor Companies Competing for ACE Awards in China

The ACE Awards will present 24 awards for the Company of the Year,

Product of the Year and Editor's Choice categories.

The awards, sponsored by Electronic Engineering Times-China (EE Times-

China), received 224 entries from 83 semiconductor companies.

For Company of the Year, judges will select one winner each for Best

Brand of the Year, Outstanding Services of the Year and Best Startup of the

Year.

The Editor's Choice award will be presented for the most significant

semiconductor technology or technical solution of 2006.

Products of the Year winners will be selected by China engineers through

an online voting process. Two winners will be selected per category.

Voting opens Dec. 20 and closes Jan. 22, 2007. Product categories are AD/DA

converter ICs, Amplifier ICs, Interface ICs, Logic & Programmable Logic,

Microcontrollers, Memory, Power, Processors & DSPs, RF & Microwave and Test

& Measurement.

"Our China Design Capabilities survey shows 60 percent of design

engineers are working on original design," Saunderson said. "China

engineers are involved increasingly in the selection of chip solutions that

go into their products.

"Engineers work directly with the technology and are acutely aware of

the functionality and value it brings to their design work. For this

reason, we've involved them directly in the selection of Product of the Year

winners."

Global Sources is scheduled to announce the winners at a gala dinner on

March 5, 2007, in Shenzhen. The ceremony will coincide with the

International IC-China Conference & Exhibition, mainland China's largest

showcase of IC application technologies and high-end components.
