Himfr Reports China's Potash Fertilizer Prices in 2010 will Remain Relatively Stable

BEIJING, March 3 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Himfr.com, one of China's leading B2B search platforms with more than 30 B2B industry websites to its name, reports China's potash fertilizer price in 2010 will remain relatively stable. Himfr predicts that in 2010 the basic balance between supply and demand in the Chinese potash fertilizer market will also remained generally stable.

According to Himfr's reports, the last two years saw the domestic potash fertilizer market undergo big volatility. In 2008, the domestic price of potassium chloride from a year ago, 1,900 yuan per ton, soared to 4,600 yuan per ton. Prices rose in response to the farmers' reactions to domestic potash fertilizer consumption, which shrank dramatically.

On the supply side, China's potash fertilizer production in 2010 is expected to reach about 3.5 million tons of potassium hydroxide, which reaches a record high, compared with 2009's 3.207 million tons potassium hydroxide, an increase of 9.4% or so. The volume of potash fertilizer import volume will be about 300 million tons, or about 1.89 million tons of hydroxide. Plus the 2009 carry-over of 1.89 million tons of potassium hydroxide, means that in 2010 the total supply of potash fertilizer in China will reach 7.31 million tons of potassium hydroxide. The supply and demand is basically balanced.

With regard to potash price trends in 2010, Himfr expects that in 2010, 60% potassium hydroxide of potassium chloride, the price will remain in the range of 2,300-2,700 yuan, while import prices of potassium chloride are maintained at 2,400-2,800 yuan; potassium sulfate market prices will remain at the 2,800-3,100 yuan level; potassium magnesium fertilizer will remain at the level of 2,200-2,400 yuan. Potash prices in the domestic market will thus remain relatively stable.
