Homage to the Italian Flag: Interpretations and Expressions of Style

2011-07-08 10:50

HONG KONG, July 8, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- For the first time in Hong Kong a special and unique exhibition, "Homage to the Italian Flag: Interpretations and Expressions of Style" on the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of Italy's Unification, will be displayed between the 13th and 21st July 2011, at The Landmark Atrium, Central, Hong Kong, which is the only city in China chosen to host the event.

Twenty-four of the most famous and talented Italian designers comprising:Alberta Ferretti, Albino, Anna Molinari, Byblos, Brioni, Costume National, Emilio Pucci, Enrico Coveri, Ermanno Scervino, Etro, Francesco Scognamiglio, Frankie Morello, Gattinoni, Iceberg, Krizia, Laura Biagiotti, Luciano Soprani, Max Mara, Missoni, Moschino, Roberto Cavalli, Rocco Barocco, Salvatore Ferragamo, Trussardi.

All designers who have contributed to the success of Italian fashion worldwide, were invited to design and interpret the Italian flag in their very own personal way. Each one of the participating designers was invited to take a needle and thread to "dress" and 'interpret' the Italian flag in their own style whilst expressing distinct individuality. The result is a unique exhibition representing the historical and cultural heritage of this beloved symbol of national identity.

The idea originated when the "Camera Nazionale della Moda" (the National Chamber of Italian Fashion) decided to add a touch of glamour to the central icon of the Republic of Italy by profiling the creativity of the designers with a symbolic interpretation of the tri-coloured flag. The President of Italy, H.E. Giorgio Napolitano, visited the exhibition and showed great appreciation for the beauty and diversity of the designs and the uniqueness of the overall concept.

The flag exhibition was first opened in Milan in 2004 and since then has travelled to London, Tokyo, Moscow, Hamburg and Bratislava.  The exhibition has been made possible thanks to the support of GENERALI Group and OMLOG Supply Chain Solutions.
