-- Education Fever from Introduction to Starting Global Online Mall

SEOUL, South Korea, July 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- A, a student of a university in Seoul, will be attending the lecture on starting e-commerce business next semester. He did not hesitate to register for the course when the school opened it for he has been much interested in the online shopping mall business that targets global customers.

Simplex Internet (CEO Lee Jae-suk) operates cafe24 (www.cafe24.com), its exclusive brand specializing in e-commerce, in Korea, and they announced on June 7 that local universities are now providing their students with full support for starting cross-border shopping malls. This is a competitive move to produce a number of CEOs for e-commerce export.

The course titled 'cafe24 Global E-Business' that Chungang University will be offering from this year's second semester, is characterized by its contents proved essential for starting an actual e-commerce business and for achieving success in the business. Starting from how to set up the business plan including the selection of sales item, the course is designed to teach students a variety of know-how relating to global marketing, market analysis, and trademark rights.

The school showed their commitment to fostering e-commerce CEOs based on industry-academy cooperation to such an extent as to offer a course titled with a brand of a company. Their plan is to help students to start a cross-border business or grow into global e-commerce experts for related companies after graduation.

In May, Incheon National University held the Cross-border Start-up Camp in the form of a competition with soon-to-be graduates. Students with different specialties formed teams, established business plans, received experts' review, and now they are ready to buckle down to start their businesses. A student camp focusing on starting an e-commerce business in the field of trade is quite rare around the world.

At Kongju National University, a student who completed the e-commerce course and started an online shopping mall immediately after graduation last year achieved tens of thousands of dollars in monthly sales drawing the attention of Korean media. The young entrepreneur explains that the professional course that combined theory and practice worked for the actual market.

What these universities have in common is that they signed the Industry-Academy MOU with cafe24 for the course on starting an e-commerce business. In other words, they are fully absorbing the know-how of the company in the actual field in order to intensify the professionalism of the education. The schools are expecting that the industry-academy cooperation for fostering experts for e-commerce export will help Korean products to have a worldwide presence and create jobs for young people.

The e-commerce export industry targeting cross-border shoppers has recently drawn national attention in Korea, not to mention the schools. Businesses are also raising the bar alongside the rising brand awareness and demand for Korean products following the popularity of global Korean Wave. As of this month, 37,000 cross-border shopping malls have opened through cafe24.

"We will fully support outstanding individuals to tap into global e-commerce market through the cooperation with universities," said CEO Lee Jae-suk of Simplex Internet, "These people will strengthen Korea's competitiveness for trade in the future."
