Korean Universities Fostering CEOs for e-Commerce Export Businesses

The school showed their commitment to fostering e-commerce CEOs based on industry-academy cooperation to such an extent as to offer a course titled with a brand of a company. Their plan is to help students to start a cross-border business or grow into global e-commerce experts for related companies after graduation.

In May, Incheon National University held the Cross-border Start-up Camp in the form of a competition with soon-to-be graduates. At Kongju National University, a student who completed the e-commerce course and started an online shopping mall immediately after graduation last year achieved tens of thousands of dollars in monthly sales drawing the attention of Korean media. The young entrepreneur explains that the professional course that combined theory and practice worked for the actual market.

What these universities have in common is that they signed the Industry-Academy MOU with cafe24 for the course on starting an e-commerce business. In other words, they are fully absorbing the know-how of the company in the actual field in order to intensify the professionalism of the education. The schools are expecting that the industry-academy cooperation for fostering experts for e-commerce export will help Korean products to have a worldwide presence and create jobs for young people.

The e-commerce export industry targeting cross-border shoppers has recently drawn national attention in Korea, not to mention the schools. Businesses are also raising the bar alongside the rising brand awareness and demand for Korean products following the popularity of global Korean Wave. As of this month, 37,000 cross-border shopping malls have opened through cafe24.
