Veteran Corporate Attorney to Join Cadwalader's Beijing Office

New Special Counsel Jie Huang enhances Cadwalader's Corporate Finance and M&A capabilities in China

NEW YORK, May 23, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP (Cadwalader), a leading counselor to global financial institutions and corporations, today announced a strengthening of its Beijing team with the addition of Special Counsel Jie Huang, a leading corporate attorney with deep experience in China; especially the internet, media, telecommunications sectors.

"Jie is a highly regarded corporate lawyer with extensive experience in what is a rapidly evolving environment for complex business transactions in Mainland China," said W. Ms. Huang has represented numerous Fortune 500 companies and institutional investors in their direct investments and mergers and acquisitions activities in China, as well as assisting many Chinese companies in their corporate financing activities in and outside China. She is a well established name in China's TMT space and has strong connections with the industry players as well as regulators.

Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Huang served as the General Counsel, Mainland China for the international business unit of Telstra Corporation Limited, a Fortune 500 telecommunications company headquartered in Australia. In this capacity, she advised on Telstra's mergers and acquisitions, post merger integrations, corporate reorganizations, trade sales or public offerings, in China.

Before joining Telstra, Ms. Huang worked in the Beijing office of an international law firm representing venture capital and private equity funds as well as assisting Chinese companies in their capital raising and M&A transactions. Prior to obtaining her New York qualification, Ms. Huang was a counsel at the Bank of China, a State owned bank and a counsel and project manager at China Orient Asset Management Corporation, a state owned asset management company that specialized in distressed assets and non-performing loans.

Ms. Huang earned her LL.B., with honors, in international economic law from Shanghai International Studies University School of Law and her LL.M. in corporate law from New York University School of Law. She is a PRC-qualified attorney and a member of the New York State Bar Association.
