Mrs Carrie Lam, HKSARG Secretary for Development, is named as the Property Person of the Year
HONG KONG, March 11, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Hong Kong organises the RICS Hong Kong Property Awards for the first time to recognise contribution of outstanding players who have excelled in the property industry in Hong Kong. The winners announcement and presentation was held on Match 9 at JW Marriott Hong Kong during the inaugural RICS Hong Kong Annual Dinner. Distinguished guests and prominent industry players were present to congratulate the winners for their excellent contribution to the industry.
RICS Hong Kong Property Awards include a total of 11 award categories. Innovation, professionalism and customer service, contribution to community, talent development, professional ethics and standards are the assessment criteria.

The Property Person of the Year Award, selected unanimously by the 12 Jurors, is presented to Mrs Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor GBS JP, Secretary for Development, HKSAR Government to recognise her significant contribution in the property industry in Hong Kong.
After receiving the award, Mrs Lam said that she was grateful to the jurors for recognising the joint efforts of Development Bureau and other parts of the Government in creating a quality living environment for the people of Hong Kong, which was a key policy objective of the Third Term of the HKSARG. She paid tribute to the Chief Executive for his vision in advocating progressive and balanced development which has set the scene for various policy initiatives in the past few years on sustainable and quality building designs, urban regeneration, heritage conservation, harbourfront enhancement, revitalisation of industrial buildings, etc. She assured the audience that the Government will at the same time continue to press ahead with infrastructure development and land supply to meet Hong Kong's housing and social needs and enhance the City's economic competitiveness.
Mrs Lam thanked the RICS for their enduring contributions and support to the Government by offering professional and useful advices on building, planning and land-related matters over the years.
45 nominations have been received for the RICS Hong Kong Property Awards 2012. After the careful consideration by the Jury Panel, consisting of 12 distinguished leaders of the industry, the Panel has selected the winner of each category, whom is invited to receive the Awards.
