The Mr. and Miss WOW Health Campaign is best known for its series of in-taxi workouts, featuring light stretching exercises by flamboyant coaches. The campaign selected two individuals as "Mr. and Miss WOW 2012," based on results from health day screenings, followed by 6 weeks of continuous effort, including regular exercise, a daily journaling of eating, sleeping and lifestyle habits, real improvements in physical conditioning and the volume of fan votes.  The men's winner was Yang Jia Wen and the women's was Zou Yang, who received their crowns from last year's Mr. and Miss WOW 2011 winners, Huang Jie Ming and Gao Ying Wen.

Micky Fung, Executive Chairman and Founder of Touchmedia, presented the awards: "All participants of the WOW 45 Day Challenge deserve recognition and congratulations for making a commitment to improving their health. Despite busy schedules and intense career pressures, they have demonstrated persistence and discipline to pursue healthier habits and regular exercise, and hopefully inspired others to follow."

Transformed after 45 Days plus "WOW Certification"

The General Administration of Sports of China, commercial partners Centrum, New Balance, Tera Wellness and Life Fitness, together with organizer Touchmedia, rallied their resources to provide participants in the WOW 45 Day Challenge with professional consultations from trainers and nutritionists, complimentary multivitamins, sports clothes and shoes, gym membership and equipment.  With the goal of promoting healthier habits and lifestyles, the WOW 45 Day Challenge attracted 54,979 people to register via Touchmedia's in-taxi interactive screens to secure one of the 200 spots available.

Progress was then monitored on microblogs, which also provided peer support to help the WOW 45 Day Challengers push themselves to better their physical and mental condition.  Mr. WOW 2012, Yang Jia Wen expressed his appreciation.  "Striving to add exercise into my already tight daily routine, starting to eat healthier food and adopting better habits overall was really hard, but it has noticeably changed my life over the past 45 days.  I feel a real sense of accomplishment and confidence in this person I never knew I could be."

Miss WOW, Zou Yang echoed him. "Many of my girlfriends have started to exercise with me during this Challenge.  I think that all of us better understand how important exercise habits are now for a more beautiful life, attitude and body."

Inspired in part by the individual challengers and also by the positive benefits of the campaign, a number of companies and other organizations accepted a 30 Day Group Challenge from June 1-30.  Each week, participating organizations post photos of their employees doing exercises onto their micro blogs.  Upon successful completion, these groups, ranging from the sub branch of Bank of China in Shanghai to Shanghai Documentary Channel, will be granted a "WOW Certification" from Mr. and Miss WOW.

Health message reaches 400 million passengers

Regular taxi riders are familiar with the workout videos and health mini-movie series broadcast via Touchmedia's interactive screens in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hangzhou. The 2012 in-taxi health videos emphasized the opportunity to do simple stretches anytime and anywhere, to reduce shoulder and neck strains, as well as sore wrists and arms, and increase well being. Since its inception in 2011, Mr. and Miss WOW has reached almost 400 million taxi passengers.  In 2012, participants in the WOW 45 Day Challenge received almost 70,000 passenger votes in two weeks to determine Mr. and Miss WOW winners.
