Morningstar Announces Singapore Fund Awards 2013

2013-03-19 15:25

SINGAPORE, March 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Morningstar Research Pte Limited, a subsidiary of independent investment research firm Morningstar, Inc. (NASDAQ: MORN), today announced the winning funds and fund groups for the Morningstar Singapore Fund Awards 2013.

The Morningstar Singapore Fund Awards 2013 recognize retail funds and fund groups that added the most value for investors within the context of their relevant peer group in 2012 and over the longer term. Winners are selected using a quantitative methodology with a qualitative overlay developed by Morningstar that considers the one-, three-, and five-year performance history of all eligible funds. Morningstar adjusts the returns for risk using Morningstar Risk, a measure that imposes a higher penalty for downside variation in a fund's return than it does for upside volatility.

This year, Morningstar introduced a new award, the Morningstar Best Equity Fund House Award, to acknowledge the fund group with the strongest risk-adjusted performance across its fund line-up.

"We are pleased to have a mix of high-quality asset managers winning awards across our equity and fixed-income award categories. Our inaugural fund house award winner, Aberdeen, is a renowned investment house in Singapore, with an excellent track record of delivering strong risk-adjusted returns for investors," said Grant Kennaway, head of Asia-Pacific fund research for Morningstar.
